Services Guidelines on Information Skills for Undergraduates
Information Services is able to offer a limited amount of input to each
Department for subject embedding information/IT skills within their
curriculum. This is in line with the University’s Teaching & Learning Strategy.
Information
Services is able to offer input to modules in the range of one to two hours
for a key or core module and one hour for dissertation modules per Department.
These are most often offered to a large group of students using data
projection facilities in lecture theatres. They are not normally hands-on.
The aim is to
help students fully exploit electronic learning materials, especially
electronic journals and is in direct response to feedback from staff and
students. Subject Support staff would work closely with academic colleagues to
integrate this Session into the chosen module.
Sessions could
cover :
-
Effective use
of the Voyager Library Catalogue
-
Introduction
to ElecInfo – gateway to electronic information sources for UWA, focussing
on materials of particular relevance to the discipline
-
How to use
electronic journals – using the materials cited for the module
Please note
that this work is subject to staff availability.
