How does SPAM scanning work at Aberystwyth University?

Aberystwyth University email accounts use Microsoft's spam filtering service.

This means that all mail directed to Aberystwyth University will be scanned by the Microsoft SPAM filters and flagged as Spam (SPM) or Not Spam (NSPM)

• Messages flagged as SPAM will be delivered to your Junk E-mail folder
  Messages in your Junk E-mail folder are automatically deleted after 30 days
  We recommend that you check the messages in your Junk E-mail folder regularly to ensure that legitimate mail has not been delivered incorrectly.

• Messages flagged as Not Spam will be delivered to your Inbox

As a consequence of this change there is no longer any need for users to forward their SPAM to Information Services. However if an email is ‘phishing’ for your AU username and password we would still like to know as we can block the phishing webpage to try and protect our users.
